Blog #10 New Skills

Marshall Rudd   One of the  intellectual skills I have learned this semester has been reasoning. Then the second intellectual skills I have learned this semester is creative thinking. These skills are very  useful,  and I am very glad I have  learned  these skills this semester. I am glad I learned about reasoning because it is always good to learn about something in a logical way and it helps you through many situations and it helps you learn stuff in a better way.  Also,  it can teach you stuff about choosing the right things in situations and making the right decisions through reasoning. I am also glad that I learned creative thinking it helps me in many ways. Some ways it helps me is when I need an  idea,  I use it to help me create something new and  it's  always good to make something new or improved and that’s always good to make something new. It can also help you in situations where you are just stuck on somethin...

Blog #9: Crazy Criminal

Marshall Rudd   I chose the article “Convicted murder claims to be behind 90 unsolved murders spanning nearly 40 years”   by Ellen Manning because  this story is so crazy  it's  hard to believe  it’s  real. A  78-year-old  man named Samuel Little will be thought to be the most prolific serial killers in the United States if he is telling  the  truth, he claims he has killed as many as 90 people in four decades. McDowell was already serving a life sentence in California for three murders when he confessed to a Texas investigator. He has  committed  murder in 14 different states such as Texas, California, Florida,  Kentucky , etc. The  murders  happened from 1970 to 2005 which is crazy how he got away with a lot of these  murders and only got caught for 4 out of the 90 different ones. Now they have confirmed up to 30 different cases that Little was the one who did them. During his trial in 2014...

Blog #8: Mistreated Football Player

Marshall  Rudd   The topic I choose was football and how a football player died from a heatstroke.  This topic has been showing up a lot in the past couple of years and people are trying to find a way to fix this problem from happening. Any time someone sees someone die from a heatstroke  it  brings a lot of attention to parents of children who play football and worry them.   I chose the article “Maryland Fires Two Trainers Who Treated Jordan McNair Before his Death” by Marc Tracy. The article is about two trainers who attended to a football player who died after contracting a heatstroke and before he died people said that he  was  not cared for correctly when showing symptoms for a heatstroke. They said cold-water immersion, standard treatment was not conducted, and no one called 911 until about  an  hour later, and he died two weeks later.  I chose this topic because it very interesting to me in how some coaches tr...

Blog #7: Hurricane Nightmare

Image
Marshall Rudd In the article “N.C. mom charged after son drowned in hurricane's floodwaters is rare case, lawyers  say N.C . mom charged after son drowned in hurricane's floodwaters is rare case, lawyers say” by Erik Ortiz has made a lot of controversy.  Dazia  Lee was driving her  one-year  old son through the floodwater from Hurricane Florence and her son drowned and now is charged with  manslaughter . Even though it was not the smartest idea to do with her son  it  has grabbed the attention of criminal defense experts and civil rights organizations that they are thinking this is racial bias towards her because she is African American.  One thing Coring Mack said who is the president  of the  Charlotte- Mecklenberg branch of the NAACP was “We know that African Americans are disproportionally  charged and  arrested  in the  country, and  this is no different.”  Lee  thought the  who...
