Blog #6: The Struggle
Marshall Rudd
Maria was concerned that Mrs. Seth would be disappointed in her narrative about her excuses she gave to her grade-school teacher. She thought Mrs. Seth would be not so happy about what she read because it is not ever good to lie. She kept doubting herself until Mrs. Seth said, “You wrote this” and is saying this disbelieved and not disappointed at all. Maria was so happy about how Mrs. Seth was so appreciative toward her work she kept telling her that she can succeed here. Hearing anything that makes someone happy makes Maria feel great because during her childhood struggles she didn’t get much appreciation from anyone and it's always nice to see someone get appreciated when they didn’t get much appreciation through their lifetime. Maria was always happy to know anyone who was nice to her and her life has just gotten better after her disaster of a childhood and she has met some great people and a great husband to treat her better than how her father treated her mother.
Something that I did that would be easier not to do was move to College Station. What made this difficult was leaving my parents and leaving my friends. I found it so hard because I have never lived without my parents before and didn’t know what life would be like. It was hard for my parents too because they enjoyed seeing me every day and it was hard for them to see me go. I thought it would be worth doing because it would be a whole new experience that would help me later in life, and experience what it’s like in a city I have never lived in before. This city is great for new people because it has so many restaurants to eat at a bunch of people your age, and a lot of activities you can do with friends. Another new thing I learned is that living without your parents means you have to go out to eat a lot more because they can’t always cook for you, also you have to go to the grocery store a lot because you go through snacks a lot faster in college rather than living with parents and them always feeding you. Overall it was hard the first week, but after that I knew it was the right decision because I enjoy being in College Station every week and I have met some great people.
nice story
